Meet Carling

Carling is a professional mobile kinesiologist and pain-free performance specialist located in Calgary, Alberta. She took an interest in movement at the early age of 2 when she was enrolled in ballet classes. She continued to dance competitively until graduating high school and now dances recreationally here in Calgary.

In 2016, Carling graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Throughout her time in school she worked in many different environments, gaining practical experience in various fields. She was first hired to work under the head athletic therapist at Kwantlen University as the student trainer for the Varsity women’s basketball team. This experience taught her all the ins and outs of injury prevention, management, & rehabilitation and opened the door to many other training opportunities. She went on to work for the Valley Rebels lacrosse (5 yrs), the Langley Rugby club (2 yrs), the North Langley football association (3 yrs), and countless Provincial, National and International sporting events.

During her experience on the field, Carling witnessed and tended to many serious injuries. In order to provide athletes with a higher level of care, she returned to school in 2017 to become a licensed Emergency Medical Responder. As an EMR, she gained the knowledge and confidence to treat people involved in traumatic and medical emergencies.

In late 2017, she worked as a kinesiologist and laser therapist at a Chiropractic clinic. Her primary job was to use laser therapy to treat patients suffering from a variety of acute and chronic conditions (arthritis, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder, nerve entrapment, degenerative disc disease, fractures etc.) and was also responsible for prescribing rehabilitative exercises. It was at this point when Carling started to recognize a gap in the healthcare system. she knew that many of the conditions her patients were suffering from could be resolved with proper treatment and consistent exercise therapy. The problem was many patients weren’t doing the work they needed to do at home between treatments.

Carling made the decision to move from Langley to Calgary in 2019 and began working as a mobile Kinesiologist. While her background is in functional movement and pain-free performance, Carling’s primary interest is in women’s health. She works with women through various life stages. As a certified pre and post natal fitness specialist she is able to work with women to maintain strength throughout the duration of their pregnancy, and after delivery to help moms regain their strength and function. Carling helps older adults navigate the physiological challenges that arise in later life stages such as decreased bone density and increased risk of falls. She can also work with women to optimize their workouts around their cycle. The in-home and online aspect of this fitness service is a huge asset to these populations who may not be able to conveniently travel from their homes.

In her spare time, Carling works as an athletic trainer for various local sports teams. Currently, she is working with the Okotoks Marauders lacrosse team. She is also a local dog sitter and cares for foster dogs through the Calgary Humane Society.
